Has anyone added a tach to a small diesel?

I recently bought a BX2200, and would like to add a small digital tachometer.
Does anyone know of a unit that would work?
I assume it would trigger off the alternator, and could be adjusted to compensate for the pulley ratio and number of poles.

Thanks,
David

It's called Tiny Tach. Cost about 70 bucks and near as I can tell it reads the injector pulse from a fuel line. ....

I have a tiny Tach on my Bx 2200. It was real simple to install. The hook up uses a 6mm transducer. Clean all of the paint from the small area where it goes. The red wire goes to the battery and the black goes to ground. The long wire that is with transducer wire, goes to a ground that is under the hood. I mounted mine on the dash above the turn switches. The wires go down the same hole that the the turn signal goes.It works very well. Now I don't have to run at full throttle to get 3125 rpms for 540 rear mowing. ....

Thanks guys,

That's exactly what I'm looking for.

I have a Tiny-Tachs on my ATV and old lawn tractor, but it didn't occur to me that they made a diesel model.

Thanks again,
David ....

WAY TO GO MARK H., I will buy you a cyber beer, that is just what I been looking for. Anybody know what size injector lines are on my B2150 HST??? Hurry, I want to order one of these because I think my factory tach is sticking even when I put in a new tach cable. I think the problem is in the tach itself and I shudder to think what a new tach costs. ....

Jeff, hopefully you have a caliper: 6mm = .244 inches, 7mm =.284 inches, 5mm = .202 inches.
On your backhoe 3.785 liters = one gallon. Last I heard, bars were either gold or chocolate, so you are on your own there.

Yep, good info! I was going blab about rigging up hall-effect sensors or something. Just as well I got sidetracked.

It’s likely a good assumption that all injector lines on Kubotas are metric but the fit of a transducer would be critical. It would be easy enough to confuse ¼” line at .25” with 6mm at .244” even with a caliper measurement. Dang, I’ve been looking for my own vernier that for about a month now off and on. I’ve had it for about 30 years and hope it’s still around.
